About Us

Dr. Tony Matthews
Veterinary Surgeon

Tony was brought up by the coast in Devon, England and went to Bristol Veterinary school, graduating in 1992. After spells working on Dartmoor, and in Manchester and London, he first came to Hong Kong in 1997, working for Victoria Vet Clinic in Tuen Mun. Returning to London in 1999, he realised that Hong Kong was in his blood, returned in 2000 and has lived and worked here ever since.

After six years in private practice in Mid-Levels, Tony took up the dual tasks of Senior Veterinary Surgeon and Head Surgeon at the SPCA, positions he held for four years before deciding to set up Acorn Veterinary Hospital.

Tony is married to Dr Annabel Sutch, a vet currently at the SPCA, and they share their home with three cats, Mr Wong, Desmond and Slug, and their beloved Whippet Biggles.

Ray Tung
Practice Manager and Head Nurse

Ray previously worked at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) for over 8 years before joining us in 2010. In 2008, Ray qualified and registered as a RCVS Veterinary Nurse. She is one of a very select few qualified veterinary nurses in Hong Kong. She is also continuing her further studies, by  participating in the AIRC Emergency and Critical Care Diploma course.

Ray has 5 maltese dogs; Puppy, Bella, Tilly, Soda and Kobe, 2 Golden Retrievers which adopted from SPCA; Jovi and Roni and 3 Cats; Rice, Bread and Dumpling. With so many animals, understandably a lot of her spare time is kept busy caring for them.

Hei (Anthony) Chan
Veterinary Assistant

Hei has been working as a veterinary assistant for over four years. Hei has previously worked for both the SPCA and a private veterinary clinic in Hong Kong.

Hei is the proud owner of 2 male cats: But Jai and Ah Dao. In his spare time, Hei enjoys cycling around Hong Kong.

Vivian Cheng
Veterinary Assistant

Vivian has worked as a veterinary assistant for over five years.

As well as taking care of all the inpatients at Acorn, she provides for her seven rescue cats at home, Mui Mui, Zeus, Apollo, Artemis, Yai Yai, Gwai Gwai and Erebus.

Not much time is left over for sports and hobbies, but Vivian dreams of someday being able to work with big cats, in particular the cheetah.

Faye Wong
Veterinary Assistant

Faye came to Acorn last year after working in the veterinary field in Hong Kong for over two years. She is passionate about pets and over the years has owned cats, dogs, chinchillas, hamsters and turtles.

She currently shares her flat with her Husky Ah Ba and is keen to further her knowledge of veterinary nursing over the coming years

Hailey Wong
Veterinary Assistant

Whilst Hailey has only been working as a veterinary assistant for two years since leaving school, she has already successfully completed the AIRC certificate 2 for veterinary nursing and has already started studying for her full veterinary nursing qualifications.

In her spare time Hailey enjoys playing badminton, studying Japanese and playing with her pet poodle Mocha.

Chun Wan (David) Chiu
Support Staff

David joined Acorn last year and we are fortunate to have someone so meticulous in their work.

On his days off David enjoys hiking and swimming and probably does more exercise than the rest of us put together!

He has been in the caring professions for many years having worked in a home for the care of the elderly prior to joining us, and in his younger years worked at the Hilton Hotel.
